If you only do these two things, you’re doing enough

In this blog article I am going to share with you my two most important tasks of the day and please, let me tell you that, if this is ALL you do for yourself on a daily basis, trust me, this is THE BEST you can do.

Yes, it has a huge impact on you, I can’t even say this enough, but feeding the mind and training the body are the two best things one can do in this life.

We sometimes tend to focus so much on one goal that we want to achieve that we completely neglect anything else. How many of you are so much focused on losing weight right now? I am! So if you are like me, you’re probably exercising daily or at least three good workouts per week. You must be on a very healthy lifestyle, you have a nutritionist looking after your diet and you’re watching closely your sleep and the quantity of water you must drink every day.

If you are not on the same page with me, probably it’s the right time to revise what you are doing and work smarter on that diet.

By the way, for me it’s not a diet anymore, it became a lifestyle. I love it so much, I love the way it makes me feel, the daily exercises, the fact that I have a good sleep in the night ( I finally go to bed early), the fact that whatever I give my body it’s not a love & hate situation anymore but a love & love one. We learnt to love each other.

That all sounds perfect until now! But then let me ask you, and now we reach to the point I was looking so much forward to, how many of you are still focused on training your mind as well?

In a world that is so preoccupied with the physical aspect, are you the exception that is working on both? Are you training your mind as hard as you’re training your body?

Ask yourself this question, balance the situation and make sure it’s all in your favor. I love and admire a healthy body, I know how much hard work is behind that, the motivation and the dedication of exercising and sticking to healthy habits, but what is a healthy body without a healthy mind?

So my only advice I would like to offer to all of you, it’s like a small virtual gift and I do it because I would like to share with you all the beneficial changes I am going through, is this: do not neglect your mind and where you are right now in your life, it’s important to train your mind every day, do it at least for 20 minutes, read all the books you have at home, if you only have one, read it ten times, I guarantee that you’ll still learn something new after you read it for the tenth time. If you don’t like reading or you don’t have the time, there are so many audio books, you can listen to one while you’re driving or while you’re exercising. You can perhaps listen to a podcast or watch a Ted Talk. Maybe you want to invest 20 minutes for your business and start to explore and read what is new in the market or what can bring you an advantage.

Whatever it is, don’t find excuses and take twenty minutes every day for yourself, for your mind and invest in developing your knowledge. Twenty minutes is something we all have and why not doing something that adds value to who we are and to who we are about to become?

Being stuck at home, doesn’t necessarily have to mean being stuck in life or being stuck in your thoughts, but we can turn that into growing at home or self-developing at home, becoming better, becoming wiser, being more focused and feeding our brains with the right information, to be more precise.

Let’s all take a break from negativity, panic and stress. We can overcome the situation we are ALL in, by first, accepting it and then trying to act on it. How? If we all focus on ourselves and our growth, together we can add more value to this Planet, together we can share great ideas and this is, honestly, the best time to connect, to give and not to expect anything in return.

My dear darling, offer yourself forty minutes a day. Twenty to train your body and twenty to train your mind. Trust me. It’s a process that will answer so many of your questions and it will calm so many anxious thoughts. Turn this situation in your favor and offer yourself this gift. You deserve it! Life is meant to be lived at your fullest potential!

So much love,

Andra

Stop checking your phone in the morning

That’s right! Although the title of the article might sound like a command, I couldn’t have said it any better!

Checking your phone, first thing in the morning is the worst thing you can do to yourself. Just imagine, you have barely opened your eyes and before you even get up, your phone is in your hands, God knows in which position you are now laying down, eyes half opened, phone above your face, lucky enough not to drop it on your nose and then the process of getting distracted and becoming reactive to all the news you see gets started.

Before you even know, 30 minutes have already passed (the best scenario), cause sometimes people lay down in their beds for another few hours doing nothing, but checking their phones. If that brings you money, I have nothing more to add, although that should never be the case of anyone, to wake up and check the phone first thing in the morning.

When you create such a habit, before you even have time to wash your face, say a prayer or show some sort of gratitude, perhaps say a thank you for the fact that you opened your eyes in the morning, you must be aware of how your mind is affected.

First of all, you get distracted from your own thoughts, from your own mood, you don’t know in which state you’ve woken up or how you feel, because before you take time to check on yourself, you step in other people’s life and see how they are doing. You check what they ate, what they usually do in the morning, where they are right now and so on.

Stop here.

Can you put yourself first for once? Can you just take at least 5 minutes for yourself to breathe and wake up properly before you do all of the above? You are the most important person in your life, no one else.

So why would you allow yourself to be influenced by other people’s opinions when you have barely opened your eyes?

Without knowing, they have an emotional impact on yourself and that’s the reason why so many times after waking up, you’re already feeling tired and your mood is not one of the best, so you’re starting to be irritated by the smallest things around.

You feel overwhelmed and you feel you ran out of time. Why? Because you’ve just spent the first hour of the morning on your phone checking your emails, replying to your messages or checking other people’s Instagram stories while you have neglected yourself, your own need and your well-being.

Remember, every morning when you grab your phone as a first thing that you do in the beginning of the day, you simply give up your power! You allow everyone to take your creativity, to take your first breath and suck all your energy before you even got up, because that’s how it feels.

I know all of that because this habit used to be part of my every day life too. I am not here to point fingers but just to tell you that I know how it feels, but I also got to experience the opposite.

I learnt how to keep my phone far away from me in the morning. I don’t open social media, I don’t check emails or messages and by doing so I make sure that my mind and my attention is fully allocated to me and my priorities for the day.

I allow myself to take a deep breath and prepare a cup of coffee and then I can at least control what goes in through my brain. I can filter that information and those emotions. Because before anything, I gave myself some time and now I am ready for the rest of the world.

And always keep in mind, that if you want to have a bad day look at what everyone else is doing/having the moment you open your eyes and your bad day is guaranteed.

Stay safe and stay far from your phone in the first minutes of the glorious morning!

Andra

Five great books you should read

First of all, I would like to send you all my love, my positive thoughts and positive energy through these hard times and if there is one thing to keep in mind is that you are not alone in this world.

This year, besides my morning ritual and my daily physical activity, I have started another challenge, this time related to my knowledge, because knowledge is love and light and vision.

That’s the best way I can personally relax, it’s a great way to escape your daily life and step in another dimension regardless of what you enjoy reading. It can be poetry, self development, fiction, prose, novels and so on.

My preferences might not be everyone’s preferences, of course, but I decided, since I know you have enjoyed some of my recommendations, to give you a list of my top five favorite books I read so far in 2020.

1. The 5 AM Club by Robin Sharma

I love this guy, I read The monk who sold his Ferrari 3 years ago and it captivated me.

He has a unique style of writing, very easy to read and understand, I really imagine and feel exactly what he describes in his books.

In this book you will find a revolutionary morning routine that will help you maximize your productivity, increase your focus, become more disciplined, more relaxed and by that even your sleep will improve.

It’s been 3 months since I am part of the 5 AM Club and it’s a game changer for me. It is a lifetime habit I will never give up on, no matter what. Even when I travel or I have very early wake up calls, I still wake up, even earlier, so I can complete my morning ritual.

What Robin likes to say through his book is: “own your morning, elevate your life.

It became my morning memento.

Before I continue, I must say that the order of the books is aleatory as they come to my mind.

2. Atomic Habits by James Clear

It’s quite a voluminous book as you look at it, but don’t get scared, it’s easy to go through it.

This books is teaching you step by step how to build good habits and how to break the bad ones and get 1 percent better every day.

I know it sounds simple and you will say what’s new in that, but trust me, you’ll still find something new to learn and something to motivate you in changing your daily habits.

Something to keep you going and to always remember, is that tiny changes will deliver big results in time.

3. The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav

It is a fantastic book that brought so much calm in my life, even by reading the title I am already so positively charged.

I am honest with you, if you read this book, it will completely change the way you see the world, interact with other people and understand your own actions and motivations.

Here is something I simply adore from this book: “Eventually, you will come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is.”

4. As a man thinketh by James Allen

It’s considered one of the most powerful books (top 10 most motivational books of all times) and it’s been the most recommended amongst the top leaders of the world, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Jeff Bezos, just to name a few.

It’s a tiny book with a lot of valuable information, I found it a bit hard to read and focus on what he is trying to say, like I often find my mind going places while I read, but that’s something happening to me only perhaps.

This book is something you read and reread all the time.

As a man thinketh stresses about the importance of mastering your mind to turn dreams into reality. You must think big and you should become the “master gardener” of your mind. Thoughts are like seeds, they will continue to grow and multiply. If you start with strong, optimistic thoughts it will lead to more of the same, and maintaining those will lead to a better result.

“Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are.

“Thoughts of doubt and fear never accomplished anything, and never can. They always lead to failure. Purpose, energy, power to do, and all strong thoughts cease when doubt and fear creep in.”

5. Tools of Titans by Tim Ferris

I must confess that I am half way through this book, I finished the “Healthy” and “Wealthy” sections and I have left the “Wise” part to read. It’s a 736 pages book which I challenge myself to finish in one week.

As I write about it now, even if I didn’t finished yet, it’s a book I would definitely recommend simply because it has it all. That’s the best way to say it.

If you are interested in how the strongest people or most successful sports people used to train or what diet they were on or maybe you also want to know and find out from the most successful businessmen in this world and what their beliefs are, this is the book for you.

The tactics, routines, habits of billionaires, icons and top world performers are all there, in one book.

“When you complain, nobody want to help you.”

“The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.”

This was my list of books you should read in a lifetime and if you do enjoy them and it helps you in any possible way, I promise I will prepare another one for you.

Happy reading, my friends!

Much love,

Andra

Hello 2020!

I would like to welcome this fantastic year in my life. I have a feeling that the year that has just passed wasn’t as powerful as 2020 will be. You know, us, women we have that sixth sense, so better trust us.

Since we stepped into a new year, a new me, I don’t want to dig too much into 2019, it’s already a closed chapter, but I would like to emphasize on making sure that you have all done your annul review and you know what to leave behind and what to bring with you in this new year.

I went through my list and my writings for the beginning of 2019 and throughout the year and I have realized that most of what I have wished for became the reality I am living today.

And there is little left undone, which doesn’t upset me, because I will keep working on it and finding a better strategy to get things done this year.

Fortunately, I was blessed enough to get to spend the Christmas holidays, back home, in Romania with my family and my friends.

It was a joyful Christmas for us, specially because of my godson, Alexandru, who has shared with us, the excitement of waiting for Santa Claus and I can’t even put in words how special this little human being is.

He taught us (at almost 3 years old) valuable lessons which I would like to share with you.

  • A “Thank you” goes a long way
  • Don’t forget to play, it keeps you young and takes your worries away
  • Wake up early and go to bed early, take a nap in the afternoon
  • Don’t skip breakfast
  • Stay hydrated
  • Make sure you surprise someone throughout the day, even with something as little as a Kinder Surprise 🙂
  • Apologize when wrong
  • Learn how to listen (and memorize everything, I am still shocked)
  • Dance and sing along the way

These are very small things the kids are doing effortless, however looking at us, the grownup ones, we kind of struggle to even drink enough water during the day and that says it all.

But pause here.

Think about it. Do you really enjoy living in your busy world? Feeling always tired? Coming home from work and staying on a phone? Forgetting to eat or worse, overeating? Making a habit out of overthinking?

The last might be the favorite activity between adults.

I strongly believe that you need a break.

You need to slow down and breathe.

And that is all I wish for you in this miraculous 2020, that you take a deep breath, thank God for it, because nothing would be possible without Him and don’t forget to play.

Keep yourself young, surround yourself with people that inspire you, lift you and encourage you to become better.

Be kind to the ones around you. Help and don’t forget to give back to the ones in need.

Only focus to achieve spiritual values and not material ones. You don’t want to fall in the trap of a temporary happiness but an eternal one instead.

Nothing will make you feel more safe and secure than having a partner, family or friends that love you, care for you, check on you and have your back regardless.

The rest is all up to you. The number of kilograms you lose, the money you save, the places you travel to, if you quit smoking or not, if you sleep until 1pm or get up at 6 am, it’s all up to you.

And if you fail at any of these there is no one you can blame, but you.

So, my darling, put yourself first, give yourself everything you have and be ready to prove them wrong to all those who thought you are not gonna make it!

Much love,

A

What is your obsession?

” I wanted to examine the single dot that was my own life. One polka dot: a single particle between billion.”

snapseed

I’m thinking for a while now, if I actually have any obsession and most probably not. I don’t even know if that is a good or a bad thing. I believe it depends on the type of obsession or the intensity of it.

snapseed

It might be good if you think about the fact you are not addicted to anyone and anything. But when you turn your dream and your passion into an obsession, I believe you are 100% focused on success. It will bring the success! You will make it! Just because everything revolves around your obsession!

snapseed

That’s what Yayoi Kusama (87 years old!) Japanese artist, did!
Her Dots obsession turned out to be a success and took her work all over the world!

This is when the love is transformed into dots! Nothing makes more sense to her, but dots. She sees dots everywhere. There is no life around without the polka dots.

snapseed

I know, many of you will find it silly, you will say the same as I did, yeah, right, everyone can do it, just some dots hanging from the wall or laying on the ground and here is the art, there you are, a successful artist. But she start working on her project back in the 1990s. It takes perseverance, it takes motivation, it takes strong belief in what you are doing, she was basically breathing dots for 26 years now and today everyone knows about her.

snapseed

I have seen her work currently in Sharjah Art foundation, it might be looking simplistic but it brings happiness! So again, she knew exactly what her purpose was.

snapseed

Here are some of our fun pictures taken on the day, around Kusama’s dots. She makes you breath those dots, I’m telling you!

Based on her words I dare to say that we must be living in a colorful polka world.

Therefore I want you all to examine your polka dot. Examine your own life.

Let today be the magical beginning of an enchanted life.

2016 My year to shine

Last day of 2016 is over. I don’t know about you, but I still can’t believe this year is gone. Is the time passing differently lately? Or is it us who just can’t get enough and we are never satisfied, we don’t know how to value every second in the right way.

Regardless the reason that time seems to pass at different speeds I just want to tell you all that 2016 was an absolutely unforgettable year and YES, it was my year to shine! This is what I wrote exactly a year ago on a piece of paper… 2016 will be my year to shine!

Many things have happened, had million reasons to smile, to be grateful for, to be thankful for, to be happy for!

I have done my retrospective for this year, I know all the goals  I have accomplished, some of them are in progress and some might have been delayed, not because I have not worked for them, but sometimes we are very demanding with ourselves, which could be in the same good and less good, cause we might not reach all our targets, but, please, please, focus on the good! Always!

Life is too hard not to make it fun!

Rewarding yourself is an important part of success! It is absolutely essential that you make self reward an integral part of your routine. Don’t leave it like that. Talk to yourself! Trust yourself and believe you can do it! You can do it all! Rewarding yourself for victories, big and small, will make a world of difference!

What are your personal plans/goals for 2017?

Have you written your resolutions for the New Year? If not, do it today, don’t postpone it, oh, this could be one, don’t postpone anymore!:)  Take an hour, make yourself a cup of coffee or dare for some bubbles since the New Year is right at your door and visualize your year; once you put everything down on a notebook, you’ll feel better about yourself. If you still don’t trust me, give it a try and you’ll see that this will be the first step in knowing where to start from.

Your goals must be very clear and if you want my advice, this is how I do it all the time , I split my goals and plans across the various categories: self-development, financial, spiritual, professional, health, etc.

This way, by the end of the year you’ll know exactly your progress and I’m sure that will put another big smile on your face.

Be bold in your goal setting!

Don’t worry if you have never done it before! Don’t let anything and anyone hold you back, we are all capable of more than we think.

Find a role model. This will help a lot, surround yourself with succesful people, people who are good at what you want to achieve. Do what they did, do it your way. Look for inspiration! I love doing that!

2017 will be my year to shine!

Write this down and remember every day how lucky and loved you are, you special soul.

Have a wonderful celebration, wishing you a successful year, value yourself and don’t forget to shine!

Take your dreams seriously! If not YOU, then who? If not NOW, then when?

Love,

Andra

National Achievers Congress Dubai

“Your Network is your NetWorth.”

I have always had a high interest in reading self-development books or attending events like National Achievers Congress, brought for the first time in UAE, only because I find inspiration in people’s stories, in their life experiences, their success or the failures they have been through in time.

image1-2

Robert Kiyosaki is the one who captured my attention and made me attend this event. For those who don’t know about him, I would recommend you to read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, the New York Times bestseller,  sold in over 26 million copies, that teaches you all about the financial independence and building wealth through investments.

 Saving is for losers.

Let me just start all over again. I find out about this event that I really want to attend and I’m already planning to book my ticket with my good friend, Xenia. All set and the tickets bought. Meanwhile, I’m doing my research about the guests, the event itself and while browsing on Facebook and Instagram, I go on Ali’s Al Saloom page and I see this contest about sharing the ad and having a chance to win 2 GOLD tickets worth 1600$!!! I don’t think much, I said let me just share it, I mean we all have a chance in this life, even though I don’t really ever participate in any contests like this one,  thinking that there are too many people trying their luck so my chance is kind of small, I’d rather let it for the others.

How many of you are thinking the same?

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset          Andreea Zoia and Andra Contiu

This time though, I’m sharing Ali’s post all over social media, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and in my mind I’m already wondering what will I do with the tickets that I have just bought if this turns to be my luck. I knew it!
Few days later I get an email: Dear Andrada Contiu,  Congratulations! You have won 2 Gold Tickets…

image1

Wow! I’m in Munich, my eyes half-open, this lady calls me and I’m wondering who could be, shall I pick up the phone? I did. “Andrada, did you get my email? I’m calling from the Najahi.” Uhm, which email was she talking about? Well, I don’t really check my email, but from now I’ll definitely do it more often. I was one of the 5 winners in UAE! Isn’t this great?
Everyone has a chance you only have to try, try, try!

image5-1

Two full days of inspiration, education and motivation.

Feel to plan, plan to feel. Go out there and look for opportunities! Think big and big things will happen!
I can not put together  all the precious information I got in those two days, but I can say that it was totally an event worth attending.

First of all, I was happy to see Khalid Al Ameri as a host, since I couldn’t see him last year at the Emirates Literature Festival. He is such an inspiration for all the men around and not only. You must read his posts when he speaks about his wife and his family. This kind of stories you don’t see them around every corner anymore, so you appreciate it more and I believe there is still a tiny hope within all of us that the power of love could take over anytime soon.

image2-1

Robert Kiyosaki is a person I have always wanted to meet, since I read his book some years ago. I truly believe that we must work for our future, we must take opportunities, we must build dreams and fly higher than we’ve ever been. Financial independence is important and Robert was sharing with us how can we get there before the world will be replaced by robots. Yes, technology is taking over and soon humans will have no major role anymore in serving the community.

There were many other speakers that captivated my attention such as Andrew Matthews as a bestselling author about happiness, success and prosperity; Ali Al Saloom, one of the fastest rising media stars in the Gulf, totally loved him;  Lady Michelle Mone as a leading entrepreneurs inspiring women all over the world; Peng Joon who was telling us all about the online wealth creation and how to make big money by selling digital products online; Kevin Green, UK’s “Secret millionaire”, Business Coach and Property Investor encouraging people to invest in properties and teaching us how to make money out of it.

Overall, it was a fantastic event, I took lots of notes and I got a boost of energy and motivation for my personal and professional life, so it will hopefully be a SELF development and not a SHELF development, putting all my notes on the shelf. 🙂

image1-1

I would like to end here not before asking you to sit with yourself for a bit and reflect about where do you see yourself in 5 years from now, how about in 10 years? What will you do to make it happen? Take one hour per day just for yourself and do anything that makes you happy, because it’s us who choose happiness and don’t forget that all the joy in life comes from creation, STAND OUT, be OUTSTANDING! Inspire, impact, influence, set achievements, do your things, the results will speak and people will follow!

Upgrade yourself, dear friend.

“A ship is the safest in a harbour but that’s not what  ships were built for.”

Learn in style,
