Dear future cabin crew,

This blog post is addressed to all the cabin crew wannabes, to those I am sometimes talking to already, to those who asked me questions and haven’t given them an answer yet or to the curios ones who want to know a little more about my job/your future job.

I’ve wrote down everything you guys asked me and I’ll answer 15 questions here in this article today.

Let’s get started!

1. How many languages do I need to speak to become a cabin crew?

English is the only language required to become a cabin crew. Of course, the more you know, the better it is for you (personally) and I admire you for that. If you speak more languages and you declare them when you join, those will stay on your file and they will use you as language speaker on certain flights.

2. I have a scar on my nose. Can I be a cabin crew?

It depends how big or how visible the scar is, if you can cover it with make up, probably you’ll be fine.

3. Can I go for the interview after high school graduation or is it mandatory to get a bachelor’s degree?

It is not mandatory to have a bachelor’s degree, but it is mandatory to be minimum 21 years old. If you want my personal advice, do your studies first and apply afterwards.

4. Do you have medical/dental insurance? How does it work?

Yes, we do have both. We have our own clinic and we can also be referred to some other clinics in Dubai for medical purposes. As per the dental we have an annual allowance subject to approval.

5. Will I be selected if I wear glasses?

Yes, that’s not an impediment. There are some rules in regards to Image&Uniform standards in terms of which glasses you can wear while at work, but that’s pretty much all about it.

6. How can you be promoted from economy class to business class?

I would say as a general rule, that you must complete a certain period of time working in Economy Cabin and keep a clean record. Avoid calling sick, unless of course you’re obviously ill, don’t get an absence and being a good crew at work and receiving compliments can also give you a boost. But mostly it also depends on how often and how many crew they need to join Business Class.

Don’t worry about that, just enjoy the process.

7. Can you have a holiday anytime you wish?

We have 30 days of leave balance per year and we can choose our holidays throughout the year by applying in advance. Of course, if it’s a very popular holiday, like Christmas for example, the chances to have leave assigned might drop a bit. Although, in 7 years I had holiday or days off over Christmas almost every year, so it’s possible as well.

8. What are your top three favorite layovers? (Layovers, not flights and not destinations)

This is a difficult question. Let’s say Bangkok, Brussels and Los Angeles. The reasons are quite obvious for those who know me, haha. Massage, vintage shopping + good coffee and LA vibes -beach, sun, friends, feels like a holiday.

9. Do you require a valid passport when you go for the interview?

You don’t, if you pass the interview you can apply for your passport straight after, as it will take a bit until they book your flight and all, you can actually plan everything and tell them also if you’re ready to start when they call you.

10. What do you think will happen in the near future in regards to your job of being a cabin crew?

I believe that the demand won’t be the same anymore, that’s something quite obvious and it has been announced already all over the world. But the industry will make its way back slowly. People still want and love to travel.

11. Do you have free accommodation? Or what do you have to pay for?

We do. The company will provide you accommodation, free of charge, fully furnished, your own bedroom and bathroom; you might have one or two flatmates. The only thing you need to pay is your internet bill. Also, if you’re entitled to move out of accommodation and wish to rent your own place, the company will provide a fixed allowance depending on your grade.

12. Are there any chances that traveling by air will get back to normal this year?

Most probably not throughout this year, as the new normal will look differently, but we will fly again and we will take small steps in making traveling around the world an enjoyable and safe experience.

13. Is this a job for girls only?

Not at all, we have so many male colleagues, if you feel like this is what you’d love to be doing, don’t hesitate to apply for the job.

14. Do you have to get the highest grades in training college in order to pass the exams?

No, you don’t need to be the best and you don’t need to have the highest grades, you just need to pass every exam as it’s required. Don’t worry about that, thousands of people made it, you will too.

15. Do you still have to wait 6 months in order to go for another interview in case you failed the first one?

Yes, I believe so. I know waiting is hard, specially when you have a high desire, but look at it as a time to improve yourself and be better at your next interview. Maybe your luck will also be better next time!

I hope you will find these questions useful and it will bring some light in your life in case you were wondering about any of the above. If there is more that you want to know, I will try to cover it in another post anytime soon.

Don’t forget to subscribe if you want to be the first to know the news on my blog.

Sending you love,

This is who I am

Today I have decided to share with you a little bit of my journey throughout these years.

Many of you might be new on my page and if you wish to know me better this is a great chance.

You will find out (a lot) about myself, the place I am coming from, how did I grow up, my values and how life used to care for me.

I hope I can keep it short and sweet! (People love to talk about themselves)

I would go back to my childhood, I remember I was always a happy child, I would get involved in all the activities, sometimes more than I could handle, but I simply loved to keep myself busy, finding new hobbies and I must admit I was quite competitive, but in the same time I would always give my best and I was never a greedy child, I think the desire of helping and giving that I now have is there since I was a child. I don’t have brothers or sisters, but I wish I had, so I could share with them all the good and the bad. Cause life has always two sides and I had to live them both. At age fourteen I found myself surrounded by an angel, my mother, Angela, has now become my Angel. I still think that her name was somehow well chosen.

I feel like I am now going into too many details about my personal life which I never spoke about, but since I decided to share moments of it with you, you might as well know that we all go through unfortunate moments in life and those are meant to strengthen us and discover our most powerful sides. And that has happened to me as well.

Ever since I wanted to excel in everything I was getting involved. I felt like I wanted to make both my parents proud, but all I was doing I was actually doing it for myself. I enjoyed it. It would keep me going!

And that’s in terms of relationships, school, being a daughter, a good friend, going to a good University, getting a job. I earned my own money since I was in school. I remember when I was in high school I rarely needed pocket money from my father because I would earn mine. When I went to University, I started to work as well right away, I had couple of jobs mostly in retail and hospitality.

All of that while studying as well. School was always a priority so I always had to study hard just to catch up with all the information because I was missing a lot while working to earn my money (during my University years). I was already an independent girl let’s say. I would manage to pay my own rent, bills and take care of myself.

Ever since that unfortunate event happened in my life, I have evolved so much, I became more mature comparing to kids my age, I was seeing life differently and I knew I had to get out there and make my own path in life because no one else would do it for me. As said, this is what I kept doing until the present moment. I graduated high school with honors, graduated the University with honors again, so in terms of studies I was fulfilled and so was my family.

Something was missing though and that was my personal desire to succeed in life, a quite difficult move at those times of financial crises in Romania and not only.

I have never thought I would build a career or a life out of my own country far from my family. But sooner or later the day I packed my suitcase and moved to Dubai has come.

I still remember the day I landed here, in Dubai, I was so impressed, a girl from a small city in Transylvania being mesmerized by a city as Dubai. It was so impressive to me and I still love it as much as the day I first landed here.

It was a risk that I took and not many would have done it if they were in my place. But that risk played a big role in my life.

Everything that happened afterwards it’s a more familiar picture to you already, since I have spoken about it in a previous article where I mention about my first job in Dubai and how did I end up becoming a cabin crew for Emirates.

Now, why did I share all of those quite personal stories with you?

The reason is quite clear and simple and that’s to, basically, show you that, whatever you dream of, you can achieve, to show you that in life you don’t need anyone else but yourself. Don’t rely on your parents money or your parents connections, don’t let the circumstances of your life decide for yourself, but take your own decisions and turn your whole life around.

This is an honest personal experience, that your background, your money or your social life, does not determine who you can become and if that means to be the one that does things differently and takes a risk, then go for it!

Choose for yourself and choose wisely, be aware of your unlimited possibilities and chances that life shows you and be open to welcome them! You should always make the best with what you have, be proud and happy about it, make it special!

Despite everything else I want you to know that I have always felt loved and fortunate to be surrounded by amazing friends, great communities and people who trust me. I still believe that when God takes something from you, although nothing and by that I mean NOTHING belongs to us, He always makes sure to give us so much more in return.

So yes, I feel truly blessed, very fortunate about everything in my life, very proud of who I am as a person and I know that the best is yet to come.

And when you can’t find the sunshine, BE the sunshine, and that sums up pretty much how my journey in life went, I was my own sunshine when I couldn’t find one!

Love,

Andra

10 random facts about me

Hello pretty or hello handsome!

You might or you might be not that new to my page anymore, but regardless, today, I’d like to share with you little bit about myself.

I know we all picture ourselves in the best light, either here on the blog or on Instagram, but how about talking about some randomness?

I am trying to get to know you better, but for that you should also know a bit more about myself, that’s the only way we can deepen our relationship…even a virtual one.

Therefore, let me tell you 10 random facts about me, that random that I have to think about it. Lol.

1. I am afraid of heights. I’m not sure that’s the right way to put it, since I’m always in the air, or on rooftops, even my home in Dubai is on the 54th floor, but still if you ask me to jump out of a plane, that’s a NO NO. I believe it all started when I was little and I had a dream of falling or nearly falling out of the edge of a tall building. Weird, but I still feel that when I think about it.

2. When I was a child I wanted to be a pharmacist, my aunt is a pharmacist so I thought that’s such a cool and interesting job. I ended up applying for Police Academy, Law University and Food Engineering. Graduated the last one.

3. I know nothing about politics. Or almost nothing and I live so well with that.

4. I can’t watch horror movies. They traumatize me for life. I mean it!

5. I would watch a movie and then I won’t remember in the future if I have ever watched it before, I don’t understand how can I forget it. Like people could tell you the whole plot, the actors, their name in the movies…hello, who are you?

6. This year I discovered how much I enjoy reading, truly. My mind is full of information, plans, dreams, strategies. And what I enjoy more is sharing that knowledge with people who need it.

7. I believe that my purpose in life is to share, to give, to make people happy. I do treat people with respect and kindness, and add a smile to that. It’s the biggest gift you can offer anyone.

8. I love The Weeknd’s music, in case you didn’t know. I bet you knew that.

9. I don’t have a “favorite car.” My favorite car should be red and elegant, if that’s how you define good cars.

10. I might be rolling my eyes when people don’t listen, I mean that moment when you are talking and the other person starts talking over you, completely ignoring what you were saying. Thank you, next.

11. Ah, I said 10. Ok, that’s it for today. My list is so much longer though.

I hope you enjoyed knowing a little more about myself. Slowly, but surely, we’ll get to know each other.

Sending you much love, positive thoughts and courage to stay strong, sane and active!

XOXO,

Andra

This day will never come again

It seems that this spring allows us to only watch the trees blooming from our balconies, we listen to the birds singing every morning while sipping our coffee and we watch the sky day and night. I would emphasize on the last part since I simply adore watching the sunrise and the sunset. The energy you get while you observe this phenomenon is simply mesmerizing and if you ask, I would so much love to do that by the beach having the sound of the waves as a background music with my eyes closed and feeling the wind on my skin, which doesn’t even bother me, because the sun is so warm and gentle at these times of the day that makes the whole experience so much more relaxing.

Oh, what kind of dreams we now have, while #stayinghome all of us and patiently, or impatiently, waiting for this virus to somehow dissipate and let us enjoy the beauty of the nature. The beauty that we once used to be so busy to observe. Isn’t this ironic in some ways?

Not so long ago, we were all going to work, going outside, attending events, meeting friends and yet we were complaining we have no time for ourselves and that life is so busy, that time is flying.

Look at us now, we are all safe at home, surrounded by our loved ones, by a family member or a partner, maybe a roommate, we are not running around like crazy, life isn’t as busy as it once used to be and guess what? We now HAVE THE TIME.

But the downside is that we still love to complain about this too. We find it boring, we don’t know what to do to make the time pass quicker, we have applied all the masks our face needed, we read so many books, watched so many movies, caught up with all our friends and family members, discovered the undiscovered about the one you live with, learnt to cook, tried new things at home, like exercising efficiently without having to pay lots of money, cleaned the whole house perfectly, decluttered your wardrobes, got to sleep as much as you once wanted to and tell me, what else was on your list?

Ok, you haven’t learnt a new language yet, you might have not finished any course or perhaps you are far from even starting one, you didn’t lose those extra kg either and from my experience that’s the hardest part of them all, but hey, we are all #inthistogether.

Now, allow me to tell you something that will be music to your ears.

Don’t desperate!

Everything is perfectly fine! You have done all you wanted to do, all you were able of doing, you have done it your way. You are not supposed to be finishing your 1 year of studies while staying a month at home, you are not meant to come out of this a self educate doctor either.

The only think you should keep in mind is that this will pass, we are strong and we will win this battle, all together, but the time that we have now we might not have it soon again.

The time that you were crying so much about in the past that you desperately need, yes yes, that time for yourself, the time to take a bath, to finish a movie or a book, to eat a homemade meal, to spend some quality time with your loved ones, this time is yours NOW only.

Do embrace it, do look at it positively, treat it as an opportunity, because we should always look at every obstacle in life as a new opportunity for something better and brighter to come our way.

And also, my friend, don’t forget that you can only be truly happy if you live in the present. So, treat every single day as new opportunity to make love with yourself and spread that love all around the house, send it even miles away to your family and friends and remember that, while there are people out there fighting a battle with their life, you just won that battle.

And when the well rested you (because you slept so well), the fresh/hydrated/glowing you, (because of all the treatments you have applied and tried on your skin since staying home), the wiser you (the books you read or documentaries you watched have watered those seeds in your brain), the more relaxed you (the movies you’ve seen) and the NEW you (because you had time to focus on yourself, to know what truly matters and to self develop), when this new you gets back his/her freedom, trust me, YOU will live life differently.

Until then, make sure you nurture yourself and live in harmony and blessings, that you cultivate positivity and joy, because this time will not come again to you. And I hope it won’t.

The lessons have been learnt!

Sending you love,

Andra

If you only do these two things, you’re doing enough

In this blog article I am going to share with you my two most important tasks of the day and please, let me tell you that, if this is ALL you do for yourself on a daily basis, trust me, this is THE BEST you can do.

Yes, it has a huge impact on you, I can’t even say this enough, but feeding the mind and training the body are the two best things one can do in this life.

We sometimes tend to focus so much on one goal that we want to achieve that we completely neglect anything else. How many of you are so much focused on losing weight right now? I am! So if you are like me, you’re probably exercising daily or at least three good workouts per week. You must be on a very healthy lifestyle, you have a nutritionist looking after your diet and you’re watching closely your sleep and the quantity of water you must drink every day.

If you are not on the same page with me, probably it’s the right time to revise what you are doing and work smarter on that diet.

By the way, for me it’s not a diet anymore, it became a lifestyle. I love it so much, I love the way it makes me feel, the daily exercises, the fact that I have a good sleep in the night ( I finally go to bed early), the fact that whatever I give my body it’s not a love & hate situation anymore but a love & love one. We learnt to love each other.

That all sounds perfect until now! But then let me ask you, and now we reach to the point I was looking so much forward to, how many of you are still focused on training your mind as well?

In a world that is so preoccupied with the physical aspect, are you the exception that is working on both? Are you training your mind as hard as you’re training your body?

Ask yourself this question, balance the situation and make sure it’s all in your favor. I love and admire a healthy body, I know how much hard work is behind that, the motivation and the dedication of exercising and sticking to healthy habits, but what is a healthy body without a healthy mind?

So my only advice I would like to offer to all of you, it’s like a small virtual gift and I do it because I would like to share with you all the beneficial changes I am going through, is this: do not neglect your mind and where you are right now in your life, it’s important to train your mind every day, do it at least for 20 minutes, read all the books you have at home, if you only have one, read it ten times, I guarantee that you’ll still learn something new after you read it for the tenth time. If you don’t like reading or you don’t have the time, there are so many audio books, you can listen to one while you’re driving or while you’re exercising. You can perhaps listen to a podcast or watch a Ted Talk. Maybe you want to invest 20 minutes for your business and start to explore and read what is new in the market or what can bring you an advantage.

Whatever it is, don’t find excuses and take twenty minutes every day for yourself, for your mind and invest in developing your knowledge. Twenty minutes is something we all have and why not doing something that adds value to who we are and to who we are about to become?

Being stuck at home, doesn’t necessarily have to mean being stuck in life or being stuck in your thoughts, but we can turn that into growing at home or self-developing at home, becoming better, becoming wiser, being more focused and feeding our brains with the right information, to be more precise.

Let’s all take a break from negativity, panic and stress. We can overcome the situation we are ALL in, by first, accepting it and then trying to act on it. How? If we all focus on ourselves and our growth, together we can add more value to this Planet, together we can share great ideas and this is, honestly, the best time to connect, to give and not to expect anything in return.

My dear darling, offer yourself forty minutes a day. Twenty to train your body and twenty to train your mind. Trust me. It’s a process that will answer so many of your questions and it will calm so many anxious thoughts. Turn this situation in your favor and offer yourself this gift. You deserve it! Life is meant to be lived at your fullest potential!

So much love,

Andra

Stop checking your phone in the morning

That’s right! Although the title of the article might sound like a command, I couldn’t have said it any better!

Checking your phone, first thing in the morning is the worst thing you can do to yourself. Just imagine, you have barely opened your eyes and before you even get up, your phone is in your hands, God knows in which position you are now laying down, eyes half opened, phone above your face, lucky enough not to drop it on your nose and then the process of getting distracted and becoming reactive to all the news you see gets started.

Before you even know, 30 minutes have already passed (the best scenario), cause sometimes people lay down in their beds for another few hours doing nothing, but checking their phones. If that brings you money, I have nothing more to add, although that should never be the case of anyone, to wake up and check the phone first thing in the morning.

When you create such a habit, before you even have time to wash your face, say a prayer or show some sort of gratitude, perhaps say a thank you for the fact that you opened your eyes in the morning, you must be aware of how your mind is affected.

First of all, you get distracted from your own thoughts, from your own mood, you don’t know in which state you’ve woken up or how you feel, because before you take time to check on yourself, you step in other people’s life and see how they are doing. You check what they ate, what they usually do in the morning, where they are right now and so on.

Stop here.

Can you put yourself first for once? Can you just take at least 5 minutes for yourself to breathe and wake up properly before you do all of the above? You are the most important person in your life, no one else.

So why would you allow yourself to be influenced by other people’s opinions when you have barely opened your eyes?

Without knowing, they have an emotional impact on yourself and that’s the reason why so many times after waking up, you’re already feeling tired and your mood is not one of the best, so you’re starting to be irritated by the smallest things around.

You feel overwhelmed and you feel you ran out of time. Why? Because you’ve just spent the first hour of the morning on your phone checking your emails, replying to your messages or checking other people’s Instagram stories while you have neglected yourself, your own need and your well-being.

Remember, every morning when you grab your phone as a first thing that you do in the beginning of the day, you simply give up your power! You allow everyone to take your creativity, to take your first breath and suck all your energy before you even got up, because that’s how it feels.

I know all of that because this habit used to be part of my every day life too. I am not here to point fingers but just to tell you that I know how it feels, but I also got to experience the opposite.

I learnt how to keep my phone far away from me in the morning. I don’t open social media, I don’t check emails or messages and by doing so I make sure that my mind and my attention is fully allocated to me and my priorities for the day.

I allow myself to take a deep breath and prepare a cup of coffee and then I can at least control what goes in through my brain. I can filter that information and those emotions. Because before anything, I gave myself some time and now I am ready for the rest of the world.

And always keep in mind, that if you want to have a bad day look at what everyone else is doing/having the moment you open your eyes and your bad day is guaranteed.

Stay safe and stay far from your phone in the first minutes of the glorious morning!

Love,

Andra

Five great books you should read

First of all, I would like to send you all my love, my positive thoughts and positive energy through these hard times and if there is one thing to keep in mind is that you are not alone in this world.

This year, besides my morning ritual and my daily physical activity, I have started another challenge, this time related to my knowledge, because knowledge is love and light and vision.

That’s the best way I can personally relax, it’s a great way to escape your daily life and step in another dimension regardless of what you enjoy reading. It can be poetry, self development, fiction, prose, novels and so on.

My preferences might not be everyone’s preferences, of course, but I decided, since I know you have enjoyed some of my recommendations, to give you a list of my top five favorite books I read so far in 2020.

1. The 5 AM Club by Robin Sharma

I love this guy, I read The monk who sold his Ferrari 3 years ago and it captivated me.

He has a unique style of writing, very easy to read and understand, I really imagine and feel exactly what he describes in his books.

In this book you will find a revolutionary morning routine that will help you maximize your productivity, increase your focus, become more disciplined, more relaxed and by that even your sleep will improve.

It’s been 3 months since I am part of the 5 AM Club and it’s a game changer for me. It is a lifetime habit I will never give up on, no matter what. Even when I travel or I have very early wake up calls, I still wake up, even earlier, so I can complete my morning ritual.

What Robin likes to say through his book is: “own your morning, elevate your life.

It became my morning memento.

Before I continue, I must say that the order of the books is aleatory as they come to my mind.

2. Atomic Habits by James Clear

It’s quite a voluminous book as you look at it, but don’t get scared, it’s easy to go through it.

This books is teaching you step by step how to build good habits and how to break the bad ones and get 1 percent better every day.

I know it sounds simple and you will say what’s new in that, but trust me, you’ll still find something new to learn and something to motivate you in changing your daily habits.

Something to keep you going and to always remember, is that tiny changes will deliver big results in time.

3. The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav

It is a fantastic book that brought so much calm in my life, even by reading the title I am already so positively charged.

I am honest with you, if you read this book, it will completely change the way you see the world, interact with other people and understand your own actions and motivations.

Here is something I simply adore from this book: “Eventually, you will come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is.”

4. As a man thinketh by James Allen

It’s considered one of the most powerful books (top 10 most motivational books of all times) and it’s been the most recommended amongst the top leaders of the world, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Jeff Bezos, just to name a few.

It’s a tiny book with a lot of valuable information, I found it a bit hard to read and focus on what he is trying to say, like I often find my mind going places while I read, but that’s something happening to me only perhaps.

This book is something you read and reread all the time.

As a man thinketh stresses about the importance of mastering your mind to turn dreams into reality. You must think big and you should become the “master gardener” of your mind. Thoughts are like seeds, they will continue to grow and multiply. If you start with strong, optimistic thoughts it will lead to more of the same, and maintaining those will lead to a better result.

“Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are.

“Thoughts of doubt and fear never accomplished anything, and never can. They always lead to failure. Purpose, energy, power to do, and all strong thoughts cease when doubt and fear creep in.”

5. Tools of Titans by Tim Ferris

I must confess that I am half way through this book, I finished the “Healthy” and “Wealthy” sections and I have left the “Wise” part to read. It’s a 736 pages book which I challenge myself to finish in one week.

As I write about it now, even if I didn’t finished yet, it’s a book I would definitely recommend simply because it has it all. That’s the best way to say it.

If you are interested in how the strongest people or most successful sports people used to train or what diet they were on or maybe you also want to know and find out from the most successful businessmen in this world and what their beliefs are, this is the book for you.

The tactics, routines, habits of billionaires, icons and top world performers are all there, in one book.

“When you complain, nobody want to help you.”

“The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.”

This was my list of books you should read in a lifetime and if you do enjoy them and it helps you in any possible way, I promise I will prepare another one for you.

Happy reading, my friends!

Much love,

Andra

My morning ritual

They say that high victory is made in those early morning hours when no one’s watching and while everyone else is sleeping and I can’t agree more with it.

I know this article has been requested by many of you when I started implementing my 5 AM morning ritual, but I really wanted to try it out myself, for a longer period of time, and I am extremely happy to say that tomorrow I am celebrating 66 days since my life has changed for better. So I can, now, proudly say, that I do have a habit I am gonna stick to for life!

Before we continue, I would like to let you know that there is a bit of reading in this article although I tried to summarize it as much as possible, but you deserve valuable information.

What did I learn in these 66 days?

• That if you own your morning, you’ll elevate your life. 100%

• If you take excellent care of the front end of your day, the rest of your day will pretty much take care of itself. Trust me!

• If you don’t keep rising daily you’ll get stuck in your life, for the rest of your life. (As I used to)

• Win the morning and you win the day. All you need to know.

Let’s go back in time little bit since you might be wondering how did it “hit” me to start doing this, also when my life and my sleep is a bit different from many of you, my days and nights are never the same, so from this point of view might be a bit more difficult, but not impossible and all I can say I feel better than ever!

Since last year, November, I started exercising daily for minimum 30 minutes, some of you might remember my Fitness Challenge, and it felt so good that was hard to stop. And then, if I happened to skip a day, I used to feel guilty, when the old version of me would be very glad not to “waste” her time going to the gym. (Still can’t believe how much we can change in a short period of time)

On September 2019, I have also started a healthy meal plan with my nutritionist and fitness trainer Alexandra, who came like a blessing in my life. She literally messaged me when my body was the heaviest or let’s call it I was really getting fat (unfortunately) so she was my wake up call.

I ended 2019 eating healthy and exercising, dropped 6 kg and felt so much better from this point of view. I was happy with myself.

But then… I spent the whole day, on 31st of December, making new resolutions for 2020 (something I do every year) new goals, personally, financially, professionally, spiritually and so on.

I tried to be as specific as I can, I draw myself, the old me, the new me, I put everything down on the paper and then I said to myself that this year it will be huge!

There were few days during January, it was only the beginning of the month, when I woke up around 11 am in the morning, stayed in bed on the phone for another hour and tried to motivate myself to do million things when half of the day was already gone!

I have already put myself in a bad mood from sleeping too much and it wasn’t a quality sleep at all, because I used to go to bed very late in the night. I was getting all types of energies from watching people’s lives on Instagram and then I was stressing and trying to rush to do something throughout the day. Impossible. I am sure some of you might feel the same and that’s ok. The first step is always to admit and to see where the problem is.

That day I said that’s it! If I continue like this, my mind, my soul, my whole being won’t be able to accomplish anything from what I wrote down few days back. I must change something, I must implement a morning ritual that makes me wake up in a good mood, that makes me wake up rested and happy, that allows me to start the day peacefully and to feel motivated. All I know is that I had to do something ASAP.

I had the desire, I really felt it from within, but now I had to bring some action to it! So I spent the whole day listening to different podcasts about how successful people start their morning, I wrote down notes, many of them, I put them all together in the order that I would prefer to do them myself and I came up with my morning ritual that simply elevated my day and my energy.

I tried it for almost a month, it was a game changer, but then I start reading Robin Shorma’s book, called The 5 AM Club and realized that I was on the right path. I was really getting more things done that ever before, I was more disciplined, more organized, time was becoming more precious to me, I was investing more in my body, my mind, my spiritual being. I loved his book, it might not be for everyone but if you put your hands on it, give it a try and let me know what you think. As I was going through it, I started changing little things in my morning ritual, actually the only major thing I had to change was the fact that I start my morning with a workout instead of doing the workout last, after my mediation and all. And he explains it well why is this working better.

This is what I do every morning. And I am sharing it with you simply because I know how powerful it can get. I really hope some of you are going to try it. Are you ready?

• I set my alarm for 5 am in the morning every day and I don’t snooze it. When the alarm rings I get up right away. When you snooze your alarm, you delay your goals.

• My day starts from doing my bed first, (trust me on this) then I wash my face, brush my teeth, smile in the mirror (you deserve to be kind to yourself)

• Drink a big glass of water with vitamins.

•Go for an intense workout, usually a 30 minutes run, followed by a good stretch. (It’s important to sweat, so don’t just do something too relaxing -you have your evening walk for that-)

• Do my breathing exercises (closed eyes, inhale exhale through nose while pushing my arms up, 30 times then pause – repeat 3 times)

Gratitude: think about 3 moments of your life you are really grateful for (big or small) spend 1 minute on each, remember it, feel it, live it fully.

Visualization /Affirmation: pick 3 goals and spend 1 min on each thanking God in advance for what’s already yours. Don’t ask for anything, just say Thank you as if already happened.

Journaling: write down anything that comes to your mind, how you feel, what you want, how you’ve been, really, anything. The power of writing things down on a paper is incredible, you have a higher chance of accomplishing what you wish for, or if you feel unwell, stressed or you have negative thoughts, when you put them down you basically release all the tension, you’ll feel so much better.

Planning: I have an agenda where I plan all my day very detailed (with timings), I also plan my week and my month. I set up all the major events, tasks, things I want to accomplish in that day. Everything goes down on the paper. Don’t start your day until you have it finished.

Reading: I made a habit of reading daily for min. 20 minutes. It’s so important to constantly feed your brain. Sometimes I get so caught into it, but I keep my eyes on the watch because, remember, you need to get done so much more in the day. So staying within the time frame it’s quite important, unless you have some spare time let’s say. 🙂 If reading is not always possible for you, listening to a podcast or learning something new, will work as well.

These are the major steps I do every single morning, there is no place for excuses, that means that no matter where I am, no matter what the time is or how busy life gets, I make time for myself to get up before and make sure my day starts in the best way possible.

It’s very important that from the moment you wake up, until you finish your ritual, you don’t touch your phone, you don’t go through emails, messages or social media. The only thing I use my phone in the morning for is to listen to podcasts or motivational videos on YouTube. Otherwise, don’t allow your phone to be a distraction for you, unless you want to have a bad day.

While I workout I love to listen to motivational podcasts so I double my time when I am feeding my brain with information, one is when I workout and the second time is when I do my reading at the end of my morning ritual.

There are so many other things I try to take care of throughout the day, but I don’t want to make this article even longer as I want you to be focused on the morning routine more than anything.

You are responsible for how you feel and how your day goes and if you start it in the right way, nothing can touch you, believe me.

Points to keep in mind:

  • The average millionaire wakes up at 4 am.
  • If you do what is hard, your life will be easy.
  • Wake up before your competitor.
  • Think how much you can get done in those extra hours when everyone is still asleep.
  • Call the things you want in your life. Say thank you.
  • Remember to clean from the night before, you have to wake up in a tidy house.
  • Every morning you have another chance to become better and to achieve your goals.

I hope you enjoyed my article and if you find it useful make sure to share it with your family or friends and don’t forget:

“The tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live.”

Love,

Andra

The road that lead me to becoming a cabin crew

It all started 7 years ago. No, hold on, it had started long before, by the time I was in University, back in Romania.

Yes, my mind was already working towards this path.

Did I know much about it? Very little! All I knew is that I pictured this opportunity like a dream job, a job where you get to travel the world and get paid for it, that you get to live in Dubai, the most luxurious city, be surrounded by so many different nationalities and get to learn and explore so much of this world.

And that was all right. I confirm it to you right now.

I didn’t drop out of my Uni that year that I had this thought of applying and going for the interview, simply because I wasn’t sure I am ready, at that stage, to leave all my life behind and start a new life somewhere else, far from my family and friends. It was that feeling “oh, this job sounds fantastic, but I am not sure I want it or I am now ready for it, but I would like to give it a try though.” I know many of you resonate with me by now.

How many of you have thought the same? That you would like to do something in your life, maybe this job or maybe something else, but you were scared. Not scared scared, but you had a fear of leaving everything you built behind, a career, a relationship, a business, you name it, maybe you thought you are too old for it or too young. But there were all these thoughts playing truth or dare with you and challenging you in taking a decision.

Let me simplify it all for you. When the time is right, everything will flow. When the time is right, you will know what to do. You will know that this is it, you must make a change and that’s the time when courage walks in and you leave your fears behind. And what a great future is rising in front of you!

I graduated in 2012, in Braşov, at Transylvania University in Braşov, Food and Tourism. Moved to Bucharest for a “better life” which wasn’t going to happen there. Woke up one day, feeling exhausted of living in Bucharest, working so many hours a day, sometimes going to work on weekends too, waking up much earlier because of the traffic in the city and arriving home quite late because of the same reason. I was barely able to have a normal life without falling asleep after work. I could sleep while eating, while taking, anytime. I wasn’t myself anymore.

One morning, I woke up and I said to myself this is it. What is all this work bringing me? Money? Way not enough. Health? Losing it at work. Friends? Barley have time to meet them. Love? Not able to give my best, always tired.

Was there anything I was doing that time bringing me closer to where I always wanted to be? Was that the life I chose for myself? Quite far from it.

I will move to Dubai, I said. No one really believed me. But I moved. To an unknown world, by myself. Packed a suitcase and left to meet and embrace my new life.

I was excited, nervous in the same time, but I had a good feeling. I was ready to work hard and I knew someone would appreciate the work I do. I was so blessed to meet amazing people that I love and keep in my life until today and I will never forget the role they played in my life. One day God took someone from me, but gave me abundance and love from the people I met.

I got a job at Mango, started working in sales. In the first week that I arrived in Dubai, on my second day, precisely, I went for the interview, passed it, chose the shop I wanted to work in and started my journey. It was a beautiful 3 months journey. Intense, tiring sometimes, but I loved it. I was happy. Working 6 days a week, but happy.

Colleagues and customers could probably read that happiness on my face and they thought it would look better if I would place it in Emirates. They need and love happy people there, haha.

Everyone’s dream around me was to be a cabin crew, some they tried, some they kept on dreaming, because those fears would play with their thoughts too, and some have tried and succeeded. I became part of the last category.

I was quite excited for my new life in Dubai, even though that involved working most of the time, I liked what I was doing and that is all what matters in life. Love what you do and you won’t have to work one day in your life. I have always liked the fashion industry and I know even today that if I would have stayed in retail I would be where I wanted to be by now in that industry, but I know life has better plans for me.

So I start listening and observing all what life was trying to tell me. And that day, on a Wednesday, this girl stepped into the store and right away asked me to go home and apply for being a cabin crew with Emirates.

Her advice was so straightforward , went directly to my brain. All I know is that I went home, applied for the job, took some pictures in my room, edited them, send them through and went for the interview in Dubai at Emirates headquarters. No more excuses.

Those thoughts I had during my studies came back to me and I turned them into actions.

Passed all my interviews and couldn’t believe it. Before 2012 ended I already got the golden call. That’s 2 months after I arrived in Dubai. My 2013 started on a very positive note.

It was the year that start giving me life. If 2012 kind of sucked it all out of me, in 2013 I had freedom, I was traveling the world, I was making new friends, I started having different priorities in life and being more grateful. That year I understood that it is so important to dream, to have goals and visualize them, they will all come true when the time is right.

And that was my time. I would have not been happy if I would have taken this job years before. I am thankful for not rushing and giving it time.

This year, it will mark 7 years (my favorite number) of adventures. Because my life was an adventure ever since.

I am still grateful, I still love what I am doing, I find something to look forward every time I do a flight, specially being on a mission to have a great cup of coffee somewhere in this world, you know it all by now.

It is a very different experience, it is an opportunity that you must take advantage of at the fullest .

How long will I do it for? That I don’t know, but when the time is right, my life will choose a better path because my mind is already working on it.

I learned to have patience, discipline, something I am working on every day now, but the most important to live in the present and not to become too busy working only on my future cause I will miss on living. One step at a time. Take a deep breathe. Decide what you want to do with your life and then take small steps towards it.

If becoming a cabin crew is what you dream of, start talking to those who already are, ask them questions, go online and inform yourself, go for an Open Day, take that interview, start flying, experience it for minimum 1 year before you quit.

It might be or it might not be for you. And you will only find out the moment you try.

Even if that means giving up on something else. It’s your life, choose wisely. Have no regrets, cause at the end of the day, you will never regret something you have tried doing, but something you have never tried. And trust me, that thought will follow you all your life.

Give wings to those dreams!

P.S. The day that girl walked to me and told me to go get this job, changed my life. And what makes me happier is that five of you already told me you have became a cabin crew because of finding inspiration in what I share with you on social media. It makes me so happy, and my mission is not yet completed. I hope more of you will find the inspiration and the courage to start. And one day, when you feel like, message me and tell me that. I will be so happy for you.

Love,

Andra

Hello 2020!

I would like to welcome this fantastic year in my life. I have a feeling that the year that has just passed wasn’t as powerful as 2020 will be. You know, us, women we have that sixth sense, so better trust us.

Since we stepped into a new year, a new me, I don’t want to dig too much into 2019, it’s already a closed chapter, but I would like to emphasize on making sure that you have all done your annul review and you know what to leave behind and what to bring with you in this new year.

I went through my list and my writings for the beginning of 2019 and throughout the year and I have realized that most of what I have wished for became the reality I am living today.

And there is little left undone, which doesn’t upset me, because I will keep working on it and finding a better strategy to get things done this year.

Fortunately, I was blessed enough to get to spend the Christmas holidays, back home, in Romania with my family and my friends.

It was a joyful Christmas for us, specially because of my godson, Alexandru, who has shared with us, the excitement of waiting for Santa Claus and I can’t even put in words how special this little human being is.

He taught us (at almost 3 years old) valuable lessons which I would like to share with you.

  • A “Thank you” goes a long way
  • Don’t forget to play, it keeps you young and takes your worries away
  • Wake up early and go to bed early, take a nap in the afternoon
  • Don’t skip breakfast
  • Stay hydrated
  • Make sure you surprise someone throughout the day, even with something as little as a Kinder Surprise 🙂
  • Apologize when wrong
  • Learn how to listen (and memorize everything, I am still shocked)
  • Dance and sing along the way

These are very small things the kids are doing effortless, however looking at us, the grownup ones, we kind of struggle to even drink enough water during the day and that says it all.

But pause here.

Think about it. Do you really enjoy living in your busy world? Feeling always tired? Coming home from work and staying on a phone? Forgetting to eat or worse, overeating? Making a habit out of overthinking?

The last might be the favorite activity between adults.

I strongly believe that you need a break.

You need to slow down and breathe.

And that is all I wish for you in this miraculous 2020, that you take a deep breath, thank God for it, because nothing would be possible without Him and don’t forget to play.

Keep yourself young, surround yourself with people that inspire you, lift you and encourage you to become better.

Be kind to the ones around you. Help and don’t forget to give back to the ones in need.

Only focus to achieve spiritual values and not material ones. You don’t want to fall in the trap of a temporary happiness but an eternal one instead.

Nothing will make you feel more safe and secure than having a partner, family or friends that love you, care for you, check on you and have your back regardless.

The rest is all up to you. The number of kilograms you lose, the money you save, the places you travel to, if you quit smoking or not, if you sleep until 1pm or get up at 6 am, it’s all up to you.

And if you fail at any of these there is no one you can blame, but you.

So, my darling, put yourself first, give yourself everything you have and be ready to prove them wrong to all those who thought you are not gonna make it!

Much love,

A
